Türkiye’s defense minister meets Nigerian, Kosovan officials at diplomacy forum

Yasar Guler meets counterparts from Kosovo and Nigeria on sidelines of high-level diplomacy gathering in southern Türkiye

Turkey’s defence minister, Yasar Guler, has held a series of bilateral meetings at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum 2026, as regional and international officials gathered for high-level discussions on security and cooperation.

The meetings took place on the opening day of the forum in Antalya, an annual event hosted under the auspices of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and organised by Turkey’s foreign ministry.

On the sidelines of the gathering, Mr Guler met separately with Kosovo’s Deputy Prime Minister Fikrim Damka and Nigeria’s Defence Minister Christopher Gwabin Musa.

Details of the discussions have not been made public, but such meetings at the forum typically focus on defence cooperation, regional stability, and broader strategic ties.

The Antalya Diplomacy Forum has in recent years positioned itself as a platform for dialogue between global and regional actors, bringing together political leaders, diplomats and security officials amid an increasingly complex international landscape.

Turkey, a NATO member with expanding regional influence, has sought to use the forum to deepen bilateral relationships while also promoting multilateral engagement on issues ranging from conflict resolution to defence partnerships.

Officials say further meetings are expected to take place over the course of the forum, as participating countries explore avenues for cooperation across a range of political and security concerns.
