Tinubu Felicitates Muslims on Islamic New Year
President urges patriotism, good citizenship, and commitment to national unity as Muslims begin Hijri year 1448AH

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Muslims in Nigeria and across the world on the occasion of the Islamic New Year, 1st Muharram 1448AH, which falls on June 16, 2026.
In a message marking the beginning of the new Hijri year, the President reflected on the significance of the Hijra, the migration of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) from Makkah to Madinah which marks the start of the Islamic calendar.
President Tinubu said the lessons of the Hijrah, including sacrifice, renewal, patience, and faith in Allah’s divine plan, remain important values for building a peaceful, just, and prosperous nation.
He called on Nigerians, especially Muslims, to embrace the spirit of the new year by renewing their commitment to good citizenship and national development.
The President urged citizens to uphold kindness, tolerance, honesty, and dedication to duty, describing these virtues as essential to strengthening national unity, security, and progress.
He also prayed that the new Islamic year would bring peace, prosperity, and blessings to families across the country, while asking Allah to continue guiding Nigeria on the path of growth and development.
