Oloyede’s JAMB Reforms Should Be Nigeria’s Public Service Model, UNILAG Muslim Alumni Says
The association says the former JAMB Registrar’s decade of reforms restored confidence in Nigeria’s admissions system and demonstrated that integrity, accountability and faith-based values can drive institutional transformation.

Professor Is-haq Olanrewaju Oloyede’s decade at the helm of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) should stand as a model for Nigeria’s public service, the University of Lagos Muslim Alumni (UMA) has said, emphasizing that his leadership demonstrated how integrity, transparency and institutional discipline can transform a public institution.
In a statement signed by its National Public Relations Officer, Dr. Ganiyat Tijani-Adenle, the association described his stewardship as one of the most consequential in the history of the Board, saying his reforms strengthened the credibility of Nigeria’s tertiary admissions system and helped restore public confidence in one of the country’s most strategic institutions.
President of UMA, Dr. Mumini Alao, said Oloyede’s 10-year administration was defined by bold reforms, accountability and technological innovation that repositioned JAMB into one of Nigeria’s most efficient and respected public agencies.
According to him, the outgoing Registrar strengthened the integrity of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), expanded the use of technology in admissions, reduced examination malpractice and established a culture of financial accountability that saw the Board remit billions of naira in operational surpluses to the Federal Government.
He said the reforms had become a benchmark for excellence in public administration and demonstrated what purposeful, accountable leadership can achieve within Nigeria’s public institutions.
“Prof. Is-haq Oloyede has demonstrated that public office is a sacred trust,” Dr. Alao said.
“His integrity, transparency, courage and unwavering commitment to excellence have not only transformed JAMB but have also restored public confidence in one of Nigeria’s most strategic institutions. His legacy will remain a reference point for generations of public administrators.”
Beyond the institutional reforms, the association said Oloyede’s public service reflected the Islamic values of honesty, justice, accountability, humility and service to humanity, describing him as an ambassador of the Muslim Ummah whose public service, the association said, reflected the positive values of faith in national leadership.
“At a time when society yearns for ethical leadership, Prof. Oloyede has shown that competence and godliness can coexist in public office,” Dr. Alao said.
“Through his character and accomplishments, he has strengthened the confidence of Nigerians in Muslim professionals serving in positions of national responsibility.”
The association also praised Oloyede’s willingness to accept responsibility during difficult moments in office, describing his openness and sincerity as uncommon qualities that reinforced public confidence in his leadership.
It urged public office holders across the country to emulate what it described as his disciplined management of public resources, commitment to institutional reforms and readiness to place national interest above personal gain.
While congratulating Oloyede on the successful completion of his tenure, UMA expressed confidence that his experience in academia, educational administration and public service would continue to benefit Nigeria in future national assignments.
The association prayed for his continued good health, divine guidance and greater accomplishments, expressing the belief that the end of his tenure at JAMB marked not the end of his public service, but the beginning of another chapter in a career the association said had come to symbolise integrity, institutional reform and excellence in public administration.
