Jama’atu Izalatil Bidiah wa Iqamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS Nigeria), in partnership with the Muslim World League, is set to hold an international conference in Abuja on national security, countering extremism and sustainable socio-economic development.

The International Conference on National Security for Sustainable Socio-Economic Development is scheduled for August 12, 2026, at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.

The organisers said the conference will bring together Islamic scholars, policymakers, security experts and international stakeholders to discuss practical ways of promoting peace, stability and inclusive development.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to declare the conference open, while judicial leaders, security experts and international delegates are also expected to attend as guests of honour and keynote contributors.

According to the organisers, the conference is aimed at encouraging dialogue, strengthening cooperation and developing lasting approaches to security challenges while supporting socio-economic development.

“The partnership between JIBWIS Nigeria and the Muslim World League reflects a shared commitment to diversity, social harmony, cooperation among communities and peaceful coexistence” they added.

The organisers further stated that the initiative builds on previous engagements between Islamic and Christian leaders and promotes the idea that religious and cultural diversity can help strengthen unity, stability and development.

The conference will feature high-level plenary sessions examining national security and development from a global perspective.

Other sessions will focus on diversity and peaceful coexistence, while expert panels will discuss ways to counter extremism and strengthen the ability of communities to respond to security challenges.

The programme will also feature global partnership roundtables focused on promoting sustainable socio-economic development.

The organisers said the conference will provide an opportunity for participants to exchange ideas and build stronger partnerships aimed at advancing peace, stability and sustainable development.
