JAMB CAPS Goes Offline as Admission Season Peaks
The Board says technical challenges with its hosting arrangements have temporarily disrupted the platform used to process tertiary admissions nationwide.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the temporary unavailability of its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS), the platform through which admissions into tertiary institutions across Nigeria are processed.
The disruption began earlier today amid the peak of the admission exercise, when institutions are processing admissions and candidates are awaiting decisions on their admission status.
JAMB said the outage arose from technical challenges associated with the platform’s hosting arrangements and that it had immediately begun intensive engagement with the hosting organisation to identify and resolve the problem.
CAPS is JAMB’s automated admissions platform, designed to streamline the admission process, provide candidates with information on available choices and enable institutions to process admissions electronically.
The Board said it was particularly mindful of the timing of the disruption, given the number of institutions, candidates and other stakeholders simultaneously relying on the platform.
Rather than leave users to speculate about the cause of the interruption, JAMB said it was providing the update as efforts continued to restore the system.
The Board expressed regret over the inconvenience the disruption may cause candidates, institutions and other users, assuring them that it was working round the clock with the hosting organisation to restore CAPS to full functionality as quickly as possible.
JAMB also said it would review the circumstances surrounding the disruption after the platform is restored, with a view to putting measures in place to prevent a recurrence.
The Board said it would provide further updates as developments unfold.
