Iran Wants Its Rights, Calls for Caution in US Talks

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said Tehran’s engagement with the United States is focused on restoring what he described as Iran’s legitimate rights, while stressing that past experiences have made the country cautious in dealing with Washington.
He made the remarks during a meeting with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, where he also highlighted the importance of Muslim unity and stronger cooperation among Islamic countries in political, economic, and cultural areas.
Pezeshkian said Iran and Pakistan share strong brotherly relations, adding that Muslim nations have no option but to work together to improve stability and development across the region.
On negotiations with the United States, the Iranian president said Iran seeks only fair and lawful outcomes, but repeated breaches of past agreements have led to deep mistrust. He said Tehran’s approach is guided by caution and experience, not hostility.
He also reiterated Iran’s position that war benefits no side and warned that continued conflict would harm regional countries, while accusing Israel of pursuing its own interests through instability in the Middle East.
Pakistan’s army chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, expressed optimism about ongoing diplomatic efforts, saying the negotiation process is progressing and stressing the need for regional stability and an end to conflict.
He added that Pakistan supports efforts aimed at peace and hopes ongoing talks will produce positive outcomes for Iran and the wider region.
The meeting also touched on broader regional tensions, with both sides emphasizing the importance of preventing further escalation and encouraging cooperation among Muslim countries.
