Zazzau Emir Urges NAHCON to Tighten Hajj Operations
By Abdullahi Yusuf
The Emir of Zazzau, Ambassador Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, has backed the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) and called for greater efficiency, transparency and early preparation in the conduct of Hajj operations.
Bamalli made the call when he visited the NAHCON Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Ambassador Ismail Abba Yusuf, at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
The visit was disclosed in a statement signed by Shafii Sani Mohammed, Head of the Information and Publications Division of NAHCON, and made available to Hajj Gazette News and Current Affairs in Abuja on Wednesday.

The Emir said traditional institutions had an important role to play in mobilising and educating prospective pilgrims, particularly on the requirements and procedures for a smooth Hajj exercise.
He commended NAHCON’s efforts to improve Hajj administration, noting that coordinating the movement and welfare of thousands of Nigerian pilgrims required careful planning, accountability and sustained commitment.
“Hajj is a significant spiritual journey, and the comfort, safety and well-being of our people while fulfilling this religious obligation must remain paramount,” Bamalli said.
He urged the commission to sustain its drive towards structural efficiency, early preparations and transparent communication to address recurring operational challenges.
“We are here to offer our prayers, counsel and support to NAHCON,” he said.
Bamalli said the Zazzau Emirate and other traditional institutions would continue to support efforts to ensure that Nigerian pilgrims receive adequate guidance before and during the pilgrimage.
Responding, Yusuf thanked the Emir for the visit, describing it as an important source of encouragement to the commission’s management and staff.
He briefed Bamalli on some of NAHCON’s recent policy initiatives, digital innovations and partnerships aimed at improving the Hajj experience for Nigerian pilgrims.
According to Yusuf, the measures focus on reducing operational costs, improving accommodation and feeding arrangements, and making the airlift process more efficient.
The NAHCON chairman assured the Emir that the commission would consider the recommendations and observations made during the meeting.
He reaffirmed NAHCON’s commitment to improving Hajj administration and providing services that meet the expectations of the Nigerian government and Muslim pilgrims.
