Yobe Hisbah Halts Color Festival, Warns Youth on Islamic Values

Operatives of the Damaturu Command of the Yobe State Hisbah Board have stopped a planned “Color Festival” organized by some youths in Damaturu, the state capital.
The board said the operation was carried out on Saturday, August 1, 2026, as part of its ongoing efforts to uphold public morals and protect Islamic values in the state.
According to the Hisbah Command, the festival was seen as an activity that goes against the teachings of Islam and could lead to moral decay among young people.
In a statement issued on Monday by the Media and Publicity Unit of the Hisbah Damaturu Command, signed by Y.M. Abba, the board reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace and religious discipline in the society.
The command added that it would continue to monitor events and gatherings to ensure they do not violate Islamic principles or threaten public order.
It also issued a strong warning to individuals and groups who may be planning similar events, urging them to desist from such actions.
“The Hisbah Board will not relent in taking legal action against anyone found organizing or supporting such activities,” the statement cautioned.
