UNILAG Muslim Alumni Holds 36th Annual Congress Oct 1

The University of Lagos Muslim Alumni (UMA) will on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, hold its 36th Annual General Meeting and Congress at the Islamic Centre of the University Mosque, Akoka-Yaba, Lagos.
In a statement signed by its National President, Dr. Mumini Alao, the association extended invitation to all Muslims who have earned any form of certification from the institution. Eligible members include holders of diplomas, postgraduate diplomas, certificates, as well as bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate degrees, whether from full-time or part-time programmes.
The congress, according to Dr. Alao, will not only review UMA’s activities over the past year but also unveil new programmes designed to foster networking, mentorship, and exchange of business ideas among members.
Two keynote speakers are billed to headline the event. Dr. Ahmed Tunde Popoola, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of CRC Credit Bureau, will deliver a paper on “Retirement Planning for Senior Professionals and Young Graduates.” Hajia Shareefah Abiola Andu, Managing Director of Arabel, will speak on “Entrepreneurship Opportunities in Current Government Policies for Young Graduates.”
Participants will also be exposed to lectures on personal development as well as discussions on salient health issues.
Dr. Alao expressed optimism for a large turnout, urging eligible alumni to take advantage of the opportunity to reconnect with peers, broaden their knowledge and tap into emerging opportunities.
“Beyond the lectures and networking, this congress provides members with a platform to strengthen professional ties, engage in mentorship, and exchange business ideas that can impact their personal and professional growth,” he said.
