Sultan Mourns Makkah Grand Mosque Muazzin After Reported Final Adhan
Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar describes Sheikh Ibrahim Al-Madani’s death as a painful loss to the Muslim Ummah and prays for his elevation to Al-Jannatul Firdaus.

The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has mourned the death of Sheikh Ibrahim bin Adel Hamza Al-Madani, a muazzin at Masjid Al-Haram in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.
Al-Madani died on Monday, September 21, 2026, after reportedly raising his final Adhan at the Grand Mosque on 10 Rabi Al-Thani 1448 AH.
In a condolence message issued on Tuesday, September 22, and signed by Prince Bashir Adefaka on behalf of the Sultan’s Media Team, Sultan Abubakar described the death as a painful loss to the Muslim Ummah, particularly those who had been blessed by the late muazzin’s service in calling the Adhan at the Sacred House of Allah.
The Sultan recalled Al-Madani’s long years of service to Islam, noting that he began his journey as a muazzin at the age of 15 at a neighbourhood mosque in Madinah while continuing his education.
After years of service in Madinah, Al-Madani was appointed a muazzin at Masjid Al-Haram in 1439 AH, corresponding to 2017–2018.
Sultan Abubakar said the late muazzin was raised in a religious family and introduced to the Adhan from an early age.
He also recalled the influence of Al-Madani’s paternal grandfather, a memoriser of the Qur’an, in his religious upbringing.
From his early service at a neighbourhood mosque in Madinah to the Grand Mosque in Makkah, the Sultan said, Al-Madani’s life reflected a dedication to worship and service to Allah.
Sultan Abubakar prayed for Allah’s forgiveness and mercy upon the deceased, asking Him to accept his good deeds and reward him abundantly for his service in calling the Adhan at the Sacred House.
He also prayed that Allah grant Al-Madani Al-Jannatul Firdaus and give his family, colleagues, custodians and servants of Masjid Al-Haram, as well as the wider Muslim Ummah, the strength to bear his death.
The Sultan urged Muslims to continue praying for the deceased and reflect on the lessons of a life devoted to the service of Allah.
“May Allah SWT envelop Sheikh Ibrahim Al-Madani in His infinite mercy, illuminate his grave, raise his ranks among the righteous and grant him a place in Jannatul Firdaus,” the Sultan prayed.
He further asked Allah to reward the late muazzin for every Adhan he raised, every prayer to which he called the faithful and every service he rendered at the Sacred House of Allah.
Sultan Abubakar extended his condolences to Al-Madani’s family, colleagues, the people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the entire Muslim Ummah.
“May Allah SWT grant us all a righteous ending and make our final words upon this earth words of faith and submission to Him. Amiin,” he prayed.
