Sultan Calls on Young Journalists to Emulate Nojeem Jimoh at 74
The Sultan of Sokoto praises the veteran journalist’s professionalism, courage and discipline, describing his decades-long career as an example of responsible journalism and public service.

The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has urged young journalists to study and emulate the professional values of veteran journalist and former Editor of The PUNCH, Alhaji Nojeem Jimoh, as he marks his 74th birthday.
In a congratulatory message issued on Monday, September 14, the Sultan described Jimoh as an accomplished journalist, distinguished media professional and elder statesman whose decades of service had contributed significantly to the development of Nigeria’s media industry.
The Sultan commended the veteran editor for what he described as professionalism, courage, discipline and a commitment to responsible journalism, saying his career demonstrated how the media could serve society through integrity, fairness and public-spirited service.
He said Jimoh’s contribution to journalism and public discourse had also demonstrated the important role of the media in promoting peace, justice, accountability and national cohesion.
The Sultan particularly urged young and aspiring journalists to study and emulate the professional values, discipline and wealth of experience accumulated by Jimoh throughout his distinguished career.
He said the younger generation had much to learn from the veteran journalist’s commitment to ethical journalism and his contribution to the development of the profession.
The Sultan prayed Almighty Allah to continue to grant Jimoh good health, wisdom and strength, while wishing him many more years of fruitful service to humanity, journalism and the nation.
