Nigerian Delegation Joins Global Ahmadiyya Islamic Conference in London

Amir of Nigeria’s Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat to present Minaret University licence to worldwide head

A high-powered Nigerian delegation led by the Amir of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat of Nigeria, Barrister Alatoye Folorunso Azeez, has joined thousands of participants from across the globe for the Annual Convention (Jalsa Salana) of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Surrey, United Kingdom.

The Nigerian delegation includes members of the executive committee, auxiliary organisations of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat of Nigeria, and other distinguished personalities. Among them are the Head Elder Group, Alhaji Dauda Raji; Chancellor, Comrade Hassan Sunmonu; Vice Chancellor of Minaret University, Ikirun, Professor Abdullah Abdul Rahman; Professor Mashood Fashola; former Amir and External Affairs Secretary; and the traditional leader of Ikirunland, Eesa of Ikirun, Chief Adeyoyese Kareem Lawal, among others.

Journalists from Voice of Nigeria (VON), Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), and TVC Communications are also part of the delegation covering the historic event.

A key highlight of the Nigerian delegation’s participation is the formal presentation of the licence for Minaret University, Ikirun — the first secular university of the global Ahmadiyya Muslim Community — by Barrister Alatoye to His Holiness Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih V, and the worldwide head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.

The Jalsa Salana is a unique annual gathering that attracts more than 35,000 participants from over 90 countries, aimed at deepening religious understanding and promoting peace in society. Eminent speakers address a range of religious topics, reflecting on their relevance to contemporary global challenges.

Several parliamentarians, civic leaders, and diplomats from different countries are also attending the event to underline its objective of enhancing unity, mutual respect, and interfaith dialogue.

A special feature of the three-day convention is the presence of His Holiness Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, who addresses participants daily, offering spiritual guidance on how Islamic teachings can serve as a solution to global issues.

On Sunday, participants will engage in a Bai’at ceremony — a symbolic renewal of pledges to serve Allah and the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community — led by the Khalifa, followed by his closing address.

The event will also feature a historic panel discussion on “The Propagation of Islam”, reviewing the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community’s contributions to spreading Islam from London to the far corners of the world.

Qasim Akinreti, PhD, Lead, Ahmadiyya History Compilation Committee; Alyas Munir, Head, Ahmadiyya History Department, Germany; Naseer Dean, Naib Ameer (Deputy Head), Ahmadiyya Muslim Association, UK; Raheel Ahmad, Head, History Desk, UK; and Yahya Luqman, a missionary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in the United States.

These panelists have been involved in chronicling the history of the Ahmadiyya Community across Nigeria, the USA, Germany, and the UK, highlighting its impact on Islamic growth globally.

The convention is expected to end on a spiritually uplifting note, with renewed commitments to peace, service, and faith.
