King Salman Appoints Sheikh Salih bin Humaid to Deliver Arafah Sermon

Veteran Grand Mosque imam steps in to deliver Hajj 1446 sermon as longtime Arafah preacher Grand Mufti Al-Asheikh sits out due to illness.

Sheikh Salih bin Humaid has been appointed to deliver this year’s Hajj sermon at Masjid Namirah, replacing Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al-Asheikh, who is stepping aside due to health reasons.

A senior Islamic scholar and former chairman of the Shoura Council, Sheikh bin Humaid currently serves as an imam of the Grand Mosque in Makkah and a member of both the Council of Senior Scholars and the Supreme Judicial Council. His appointment was approved by King Salman ahead of the 1446 Hajj.

The Arafah sermon is one of the most watched and listened to addresses in the Muslim world, delivered annually on the plains of Arafat during the peak of the pilgrimage. Millions of pilgrims and viewers globally are expected to tune in.
