Islamic Emirate Denies Child Marriage Allegations

The Islamic Emirate has dismissed allegations that it supports child marriage, insisting that its policies are aimed at preventing forced and underage marriages.

Officials from the Ministry responsible for promoting moral values said recent reports on the issue were inaccurate and did not reflect the government’s position.

Spokesman Saif-ul-Islam Khyber stated that authorities regularly intervene in cases involving forced marriages and have taken steps to protect the rights of women. He added that directives issued by the leadership clearly prohibit forcing women into marriage.

According to the ministry, several people have been detained for violating those directives, while numerous cases have been stopped before they could take place.

The ministry maintained that claims suggesting the government encourages child marriage are unfounded and part of a broader effort to spread misinformation.
