Iran Says Missiles Drove US Forces from Hormuz

Iran says its naval and missile forces responded to what it described as a new act of U.S. aggression in the Strait of Hormuz, forcing American units to withdraw after sustaining damage.
According to Iranian state media on Thursday night, a senior military official said the confrontation followed an alleged U.S. airstrike on an Iranian oil tanker in the Gulf of Oman.
The official said Iranian forces launched missile fire at units operating in the Strait of Hormuz after the reported attack.
He claimed the targeted forces were hit and later retreated from the area.
The statement added that Iran’s armed forces remain ready to confront any threat against the country’s territorial waters and major maritime routes.
No immediate response from U.S. authorities was reported at the time of publication.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important shipping lanes, carrying a large share of global oil supplies, and tensions in the area continue to attract international attention.
