Introduction:
An ideal Muslim child is a child who has 100% belief in Allah and has an excellent moral character. He is a child that prays the five daily prayers, learns and recites the Qur’an and follow the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H.).

Allah (SWT) mentioned in the Qur’an how Luqman ‘the wise’ was advising his son on good deeds in verses 13-20.

“Oh my son, establish prayer, enjoin what is right, forbid what befalls you. Indeed, (all) that is off the matters (requiring) determination”.(Luqman :13)

Expectations From An Ideal Muslim Child

An ideal Muslim child is expected to live in accordance with the teachings of Islam. As a child, he should always be respectful and obedient to his parents. Allah said in the Holy Qur’an “Worship Allah and join none with Him in worship, and do good to parents”. (Nisa’i : 36) The prophet (P.B.U.H.) also said “Allah is pleased with you when your parents are pleased with you”.

An ideal Muslim child should treat everyone with kindness. Allah said in the Qur’an “And do not turn your cheek (in contempt) toward people and do not walk through the earth arrogantly. Indeed Allah does not like everyone self-deluded and boastful”. (Luqman :18)

Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H.) said “Whoever is not kind to others Allah will not be kind to him”.

An ideal Muslim child should not harm others or allow others to harm him. The prophet (P.B.U.H.) also said in another hadith “The best of you, are the ones who have good character.”

In conclusion, an ideal Muslim child is a child with excellent moral character, he obeys his parents in good deeds, he is good towards his relatives, neighbours, poor, weak and the needy irrespective of religion, race and moral conduct.
