US-Based Nigerian Muslims Provide Free Healthcare to 2,000 in Kwara
Says the medical outreach was aimed at improving healthcare access and supporting vulnerable residents through humanitarian service

A group of Nigerian Muslims based in the United States, in collaboration with the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressives Union (IEDPU), has provided free medical care to more than 2,000 residents in Ilorin, Kwara State.
The outreach was organised under the National Council of Nigerian Muslim Organisations (NCNMO) in partnership with the IEDPU USA branch as part of efforts to support community development and improve access to healthcare.
The medical mission was held at the Kwara State University Teaching Hospital and offered services including eye treatment, dental care, surgeries, consultations, and free medications.
According to organisers, more than 2,000 people benefited from the programme, while over 100 patients underwent eye surgeries and dozens others received different surgical procedures.
The initiative also included health screening and medical counselling, with volunteers deployed to reach a large number of residents across the community.
Organisers said the programme is designed as a long-term humanitarian project and may be repeated annually to support underserved populations.
They added that the visit to the Emir of Ilorin was to appreciate the royal father and the people of the emirate for their support during the exercise.
The Emir, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, commended the initiative, describing it as a compassionate gesture that promotes public welfare, and urged others to support similar humanitarian efforts.
