UAE Reports New Drone and Missile Attack as Tensions Persist

The fragile ceasefire between the United States and Iran came under renewed pressure on Friday after the United Arab Emirates reported a drone and missile attack and rising military exchanges in the Strait of Hormuz.
The UAE Ministry of Defense said its air defense systems were actively responding to incoming missiles and drones early Friday morning.
It also warned the public not to approach or touch debris from intercepted projectiles, saying fragments could still be dangerous.
The latest incident comes amid growing regional tensions, even as a ceasefire agreement between Washington and Tehran, reached on April 8, continues to face repeated challenges.
Earlier, the U.S. military said it intercepted what it described as Iranian attacks targeting three Navy ships in the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday night. It also said it carried out strikes on Iranian military facilities in response.
U.S. Central Command said American forces acted in self-defense and claimed no ships were hit during the exchange. It added that the U.S. was not seeking escalation but remained ready to protect its forces.
President Donald Trump said the ceasefire was still in effect despite the latest confrontations.
The UAE had previously accused Iran of launching drone and missile attacks on its territory earlier in the week, which Tehran has denied.
Abu Dhabi has also announced plans to document alleged attacks and pursue legal action through a newly formed national committee.
Oil prices rose following the latest developments, while global markets reacted cautiously to fears of further escalation in the region.
