Türkiye Sets Gold Standard in Global Hajj Management with Third Consecutive Award

Diyanet earns top Saudi recognition for exceptional planning, discipline, and service delivery, reaffirming Türkiye’s leadership in pilgrim welfare

In what has become a hallmark of excellence, Türkiye has once again clinched the top honour in Hajj service delivery, winning the prestigious diamond-level award at the Lebbeytum Awards 2024, hosted by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.

The award, which recognises the “Most Successful Hajj Organisation”, was presented to Türkiye’s Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet), marking the third year in a row the country has received global recognition for its commitment to pilgrims’ welfare.

Dr. Ali Erbaş, head of Diyanet, accepted the award from Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al Rabiah, during the ceremony held in Makkah al-Mukarramah on Monday, June 9. The event drew Hajj officials from over 100 countries, with only 30 meeting the strict criteria to qualify for the annual competition.

Posting on his official account on X (formerly Twitter), Erbaş described the award as a tribute to Türkiye’s consistent focus on planning, discipline, education, innovation, and pilgrim satisfaction. He expressed his appreciation to all Diyanet personnel involved in the Hajj mission, pledging to maintain the high standards in years to come.

The Turkish religious body has previously won in distinct categories: in 2023, it was honoured for offering the “Most Variety of Services to Pilgrims”, and in 2024, for being the “Most Disciplined Hajj Organisation”.

This triple win places Türkiye among a rare league of countries whose Hajj operations reflect not just competence but a broader Islamic ethos of care, excellence, and unity.
