Sultan at 70: MMPN Salutes His Voice for Unity and Peace
Muslim media body celebrates Sultan’s support for responsible journalism and peaceful coexistence

The Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MMPN) has hailed the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, as a champion of unity, peace and responsible journalism as he marks his 70th birthday.
In a congratulatory message signed by its National President, Abdurrahman Balogun, the media body described the Sultan, who is also President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), as a source of guidance and inspiration to Muslim media practitioners.
MMPN said the Sultan’s leadership had consistently emphasised truth, fairness, professionalism and responsible journalism as tools for promoting peace and national cohesion.
The organisation also credited the Sultan with supporting efforts to strengthen Islamic unity and interfaith understanding while advocating peaceful coexistence among Nigerians across religious, ethnic and regional lines.
As Grand Patron of MMPN, the group said the Sultan had demonstrated an appreciation of the media’s role in shaping public opinion, defending truth and advancing the common good.
MMPN joined Muslims, traditional and religious leaders, government officials and members of the media community in celebrating the Sultan’s milestone, describing his decades of service to Islam, Nigeria and humanity as worthy of recognition.
The organisation commended his wisdom, humility, courage and statesmanship, while praying for continued health, strength and wisdom for the Sultan as he continues his service to Islam, humanity and the nation.
