The Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency has called on Islamic scholars to step up awareness among intending pilgrims ahead of the September 26, 2026 deadline for registration for the 2027 Hajj.

The agency’s chairman, Malam Aliyu Musa, made the call during a meeting with members of the Sokoto State Hajj Ulama Committee in Sokoto.

Musa urged the scholars to use Friday sermons, Islamic lectures and other religious gatherings to remind intending pilgrims to complete their registration and payment processes before the deadline.

He also appealed to pilgrims who have already made payments to submit their valid international passports to the agency without delay.

According to him, submitting the required documents on time is important to ensure proper preparations for the pilgrimage.

The agency’s Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Ibrahim Umar, described the Ulama Committee as an important partner in the administration of Hajj in the state.

The committee’s chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Attahiru, assured the agency of its continued support and cooperation in the preparations for the 2027 Hajj.

All directors of the Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency attended the meeting.
