A shopping mall in Karbala, Iraq, has introduced a creative twist to its Christmas celebrations by offering a chance to win a spiritual journey to perform Umrah.

While shoppers indulge in festive discounts on Christmas-themed items like decorations, Santa Claus costumes, and gifts, the mall has launched a promotion where customers spending 40,000 Iraqi dinars (approximately $30) can enter a draw for the Umrah trip.

The innovative offer has drawn large crowds, with videos shared online showing bustling aisles filled with enthusiastic shoppers. A representative of the mall explained, “We wanted to present something meaningful that reflects the sacred traditions of our community while embracing the festive cheer of Christmas.”

Opened three years ago, the mall plans to announce the winner of the Umrah trip during a special post-Christmas event. Alongside the giveaway, shoppers are enjoying discounts on popular holiday items, showcasing a growing acceptance of Christmas traditions in Karbala, a city often recognized for its religious conservatism.

In recent years, Christmas celebrations have steadily gained momentum in Iraq, with markets and shops across the country now showcasing festive wares. This unique promotion highlights the blending of cultural and spiritual practices, adding a new dimension to the holiday spirit in the region.
