Senior Iranian Commander Killed in Suspected US-Israeli Strike

Strike blamed on the United States and Israel removes a key figure in Iran’s security apparatus, raising fears of a widening cycle of retaliation

A senior intelligence figure within the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has been killed in what Iranian authorities described as a targeted strike carried out by the United States and Israel.

Iranian media reported that Majid Khademi, head of the Guards’ intelligence organization, died in the attack, marking the latest in a series of high-profile assassinations attributed to Washington and its allies.

Khademi, who assumed the role in 2025 following the killing of his predecessor in earlier strikes, had decades of experience in intelligence and counter-espionage, playing a central role in Iran’s internal and external security operations.

Prior to his appointment, he led the IRGC’s Intelligence Protection Organization, overseeing counterintelligence and internal monitoring, and also held senior positions within the defense ministry.

Iranian officials condemned the strike as a “terrorist act,” accusing the United States and Israel of deliberately targeting key state figures in an effort to destabilize the country.

The killing underscores a broader pattern of escalatory actions by Washington and Tel Aviv, which critics say risk further inflaming regional conflict and undermining any prospects for de-escalation.

The IRGC’s intelligence branch remains one of Iran’s most influential security institutions, tasked with countering foreign interference and safeguarding national stability.
