Saudi Embassy Announces National Qur’anic Memorisation Competition in Abuja
Participating states are asked to nominate six contestants, comprising three males and three females, for the five-day Qur’anic memorisation and Tafsir competition scheduled for September 23–27.

The Cultural Attaché Office of the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Nigeria has announced plans to hold the 2026 National Qur’anic Memorisation Competition and Tafsir in Abuja from Wednesday, September 23 to Sunday, September 27, with participating states asked to nominate six contestants each.
The competition, according to a letter signed by the Embassy’s Cultural Attaché, Yahaya bin Ali Sufyani, will be held from 11 to 15 Rabi’ al-Thani 1448 AH.
Each state is expected to nominate three male and three female participants for the national competition.
The competition will have separate male and female sections, with three categories in each section. The specific requirements for the categories are contained in documents attached to the Embassy’s correspondence.
In the letter addressed to Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu through the Chairman of the NACOMYO Centre for Qur’an Memorization and Competition, Lagos State, the Cultural Attaché Office requested the nomination of participants to represent the state at the competition.
The deadline given for submission of the names was Monday, September 7, 2026.
The Cultural Attaché Office said it would provide accommodation and feeding for the participants throughout the programme.
It will also provide for two supervisors accompanying the participants from each state, one male and one female.
The competition will feature Qur’anic memorisation and Tafsir, with contestants taking part according to the categories specified by the organisers.
