MURIC Commends Atiku for Vibrancy, Versatility, Resilience
Islamic activism group praises former vice president’s resilience and scrutiny of the Tinubu administration, but says commendation should not be mistaken for electoral endorsement.

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has commended former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for what it described as his vibrancy, versatility and resilience as political activities intensify ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.
MURIC made the commendation in a statement on Tuesday by its Executive Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, describing Atiku as an experienced and articulate opposition figure who has remained active despite his repeated presidential bids.
The group noted that Atiku had contested the presidency six times in the past but remained unrelenting.
“Though he has contested for the position six times in the past, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has remained unrelenting. His doggedness has become legendary,” MURIC said.
It particularly praised what it described as the former vice president’s dynamic approach to scrutinising the activities of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
“In particular, the dynamism in his method of interrogating the activities of the current administration are fascinating, inspiring and didactic,” the group said, adding that younger politicians had much to learn from his approach as an opposition figure.
MURIC described Atiku as “experienced, articulate, bold and enterprising”, while also asserting that he had been ahead of Peter Obi in challenging the Tinubu administration.
“He has been far ahead of Peter Obi in giving the Tinubu administration a run for its money although some Nigerians are yet to appreciate his efforts,” the group said.
MURIC further described Atiku as “the man to watch in 2027”.
The organisation, however, stressed that its commendation should not be interpreted as an endorsement of Atiku or any other candidate ahead of the 2027 elections.
“This commendation should not be mistaken for an endorsement, MURIC has no preferred candidate or political party yet. We will speak on that at the appropriate time,” it said.
