AIG Aishatu Abubakar Baju is a chip from the family of late Alh. J. Bakonduni and Hajiya Fatima Bako in Biu, Borno State. She attended Gombi II primary school (1975 – 1981) and Government Science Secondary School, Hong (1981 – 1986) both in Adamawa state. She graduated with the degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1994 and obtained a PhD degree from the University of Plymouth, UK in 2007. She has a Masters Degree in Security and Strategic Studies (In-view) from Nasarawa state University. She has attended many courses both within and outside Nigeria
Dr Aishatu was commissioned into the Nigeria Police Force as an Assistant Superintendent of Police in 1995. During her career she was opportune to serve six (6) sitting Nigerian Presidents between 1996 and 2001 and also 2007 to 2015 in the Presidential Villa. She also served in many commands and held many appointments in the Force.
As an academic enthusiast she is a visiting lecturer at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. She has to her credit numerous International and national scholarly publications and supervising Postgraduate students.

For her PhD Research Project, she won the prestigious UNESCO-L’Oréal Fellowship Award for Young Women in Science in 2005 among 14 other women in the world. Aishatu was conferred with the National Productivity Order of Merit Award (NPOM) and national honors of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON)by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. She was also featured in the anal of 100 Leading Women in Nigeria, Woman of the Year, 2021, Role Model of the Veterinary Profession in Nigeria and twice received IGP letters of Commendation for outstanding performance. Aishatu is currently the President of the Veterinary Council of Nigeria, the First Female to occupy the position since its inception in 1953. She is a Fellow of the College of Veterinary Surgeons Nigeria (FCVSN) and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Local Government and Public Administration of Nigeria (FCPA).

She is a Member of the National Institute (mni) for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru (SEC 44, 2022) where she became the First Female Monitor General in the 44 years of the existence of the institute. She is currently the Force Gender Adviser to the Inspector General of Police. In this capacity she was able to get hijab approved fo rWomen Police for inclusivity. She has travelled widely Aishatu is happily married to HRH Dr Shehu Audu Baju II, the Emir of Mambilla and a mother of three beautiful children. She enjoys horse riding, badminton and traveling.
