Russian Muslims Mobilize to Aid Flood-Hit Dagestan

Communities across Russia rally with donations and grassroots relief as the republic faces severe flooding

As the Russian republic of Dagestan grapples with severe flooding, people across the country are mobilizing to support those affected, with both financial donations and grassroots relief efforts gaining momentum.

According to the Ufa-based “Good City” charity, a resident of Bashkortostan donated 500,000 rubles ($6241.45) to organizations assisting flood victims after learning about fundraising efforts through friends. She contributed 250,000 rubles ($3120.73) each to the Dagestani charities “Savab” and “Vatan,” both involved in relief operations.

The donor, who has a history of charitable work, has also supported mosque construction projects and contributed to the building of the Galiya Madrasah.

Within Dagestan, residents impacted by the disaster are also assisting others in greater need. Local clothing retailers have been distributing garments to those who lost their belongings, while repair workers have been helping restore damaged infrastructure, including pipes and gas boilers.

Businesses have opened their warehouses to provide essential goods such as dishes, bedding and other household items. Meanwhile, some residents with available housing have taken in those left homeless by the floods.

The wave of support highlights a broad, community-driven response as relief efforts continue across the region.
