Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo Donates $100,000 to Islamic University in Uganda

In a remarkable act of philanthropy, the President of the MAAUN Group of Universities, Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, has donated $100,000 (N160 million) to the Islamic University in Uganda. The generous contribution was announced during the university’s 33rd convocation ceremony held at its main campus in Mbale.

Professor Gwarzo, founder of Maryam Abacha American University (Niger and Nigeria), Franco-British International University (Kaduna), and the Canadian University of Nigeria (Abuja), attended the event as a special guest of honour, leading a 17-member delegation. His donation reflects his commitment to advancing educational development across Africa.

During the ceremony, the university’s Council Chairman, H.E. Prof. Dr. Muhammad A.S.E.A. Altabtabaei from Kuwait, presented an award of excellence to Professor Gwarzo in recognition of his unwavering support and selfless service toward the university’s progress.

In his acceptance remarks, Professor Gwarzo expressed gratitude for the recognition and announced his $100,000 donation to support the university’s continued development. “I am honored to be recognized and remain committed to advancing education in Africa,” he stated.

The Rector of the Islamic University in Uganda, Prof. Dr. Ismail Simbwa Gyagenda, expressed profound appreciation for the donation, describing Professor Gwarzo as a man of integrity and compassion. “This donation is significant. On behalf of the students and staff, we sincerely thank you and pray for Allah’s continued blessings upon your wealth,” he said.

This philanthropic gesture reinforces Professor Gwarzo’s legacy of investing in education and empowering future generations across the continent.
