Enhancing Worship at the Prophet’s Mosque: A Safe Haven for Young Visitors

The Prophet’s Mosque in Medina has introduced a remarkable initiative aimed at supporting worshippers while fostering early Islamic education: the Children’s Nursery Centre. This facility offers a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment for young visitors, enabling parents to focus on their spiritual practices with peace of mind.

Strategically located in the mosque’s northeastern section, the centre is staffed by a team of skilled caregivers dedicated to providing age-appropriate learning experiences. Through engaging activities, children are taught essential Islamic values and the life lessons of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

The nursery prioritizes security with a robust monitoring system, including surveillance cameras and strict entry and exit protocols requiring official identification or travel documents. This ensures children’s safety while maintaining an organized environment.

Beyond caregiving, the centre offers a dynamic educational programme designed to develop cognitive and creative abilities. Interactive sessions help children explore Islamic history and the cultural heritage of Medina through storytelling, games, and visual displays tailored to their age groups.

Operating daily from 5 AM to 11 PM, the 268-square-meter facility has already hosted over 7,100 children from 69 different nationalities between August 22 and October 31, 2024. This initiative reflects a broader commitment to enhancing visitors’ experiences at the Prophet’s Mosque by catering to the spiritual and developmental needs of all family members.
