The two-day international conference on National Security for Sustainable Socio-Economic Development, jointly organised by Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah wa Iqamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS Nigeria) and the Muslim World League (MWL), brought together government officials, lawmakers, governors, Islamic and Christian leaders, traditional rulers, diplomats and other stakeholders in Abuja.

The conference, attended by the Secretary-General of the Muslim World League, Sheikh Dr Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, JIBWIS National Chairman Sheikh Abdullahi Bala Lau, and other national and international figures, focused on Nigeria’s security challenges, peaceful coexistence, countering extremism and sustainable socio-economic development.

Across the two days, speakers called for stronger cooperation across religious and ethnic lines, greater investment in youth education and skills, interfaith dialogue and practical approaches to tackling the social and economic conditions that contribute to insecurity.
