PHOTO NEWS: IDFP unveils Interfaith Code in Abuja to confront hate speech

The Inter-Faith Dialogue Forum for Peace Nigeria (IDFP) brought together senior Christian and Muslim clerics, diplomats, government officials, academics and peacebuilding organisations in Abuja for its 8th General Assembly, the launch of the Interfaith Code of Conduct (ICOC) and a Peace Conference focused on countering hate speech and preventing violence ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.

Held under the theme, “Hate Speech and Violence: The Role of State and Non-State Actors in Nation Building,” the gathering underscored the growing consensus that responsible religious leadership, ethical communication and sustained dialogue remain indispensable to preserving national unity and preventing conflict in an increasingly polarised society.

From lectures and panel discussions to symbolic moments surrounding the unveiling of the Interfaith Code of Conduct, the conference brought together voices from across Nigeria’s religious, diplomatic and peacebuilding communities in a shared commitment to dialogue over division.
