Oxford Muslims Lead Community Clean-Up in Nationwide Service Campaign

Members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (AMYA) recently showcased their dedication to community service through a street-cleaning initiative. Volunteers gathered across various locations, collecting litter as part of an annual effort to promote cleanliness and environmental awareness. In Oxford alone, more than 20 volunteers collected multiple bags of litter, contributing to a larger national campaign.

Kaleem Ahmed, the Local Youth Leader of Oxford, highlighted the significance of the effort, saying, “Cleanliness is a core tenet of our faith, and this initiative allows us to put our values into action while giving back to our country. Seeing our youth and community members come together to serve others is truly inspiring. Even a few hours of effort can make a significant difference.”

The clean-up initiative forms part of AMYA’s broader commitment to community service under its Mercy4Mankind campaign. This year-round effort includes activities such as tree planting, blood donations, fundraising, food distribution, and support for food banks.

Over recent years, AMYA has made significant contributions to society, raising more than £750,000 for charities, donating 34 tonnes of food, and providing over 4.6 million meals to those in need. The organisation’s volunteers have also contributed an impressive 57,000 hours to various community service projects, embodying the spirit of selflessness and compassion.
