Meet the Scholar Headlining Crystal Muslim Organisation’s 20th Anniversary

As Crystal Muslim Organisation (CMO) prepares to mark two decades of educational advocacy, youth development and community service, one of the most anticipated moments of the anniversary celebrations will be the lecture by internationally renowned Islamic scholar Dr Muhammad Salah.
The respected scholar is expected to address participants at the organisation’s 20th anniversary lecture in Abuja, where he will speak on the theme, “Pen and Revelation: The Sacred Role of Reading and Writing in Islam”, a subject that lies at the heart of both Islamic civilisation and CMO’s longstanding commitment to education.
For many Muslims across Africa, Europe, North America and the Middle East, Dr Salah is a familiar face. Through years of teaching, broadcasting and public engagement, he has become one of the most recognised English-speaking Islamic scholars of his generation.
Dr Salah holds a doctorate in Comparative Fiqh, an MBA in Islamic Studies, a bachelor’s degree in Shari’ah and Islamic Law, and another bachelor’s degree in Pharmacology. The combination has enabled him to bridge the worlds of Islamic scholarship, modern education and public engagement.
Before becoming widely known as an Islamic broadcaster, he worked in academia and served as an Assistant Professor of Pharmacology. He later expanded his work into religious education and media, becoming one of the most recognisable faces of Huda TV, the international English-language Islamic satellite channel.
Through programmes such as “Ask Huda”, “Correct Your Recitation” and “Gardens of the Pious”, he developed a reputation for answering religious questions with scholarly depth while remaining accessible to ordinary audiences.
Over the years, he has contributed more than 1,500 hours of Islamic programming in both English and Arabic, building a global following among viewers seeking guidance on matters of faith, worship and contemporary Muslim life.
His influence, however, extends beyond television. Dr Salah has lectured at several institutions, including Al-Azhar University, the Islamic University of North America and the London College Online, while also participating in conferences, seminars and educational initiatives across different parts of the world.
Education has remained a central pillar of his work.
In addition to teaching and broadcasting, he founded Iman Stems and The Muslim Generation, educational institutions established to promote Islamic and Arabic learning among younger generations. The schools reflect his longstanding belief that intellectual development and religious understanding are essential foundations for building responsible communities.
It is perhaps this emphasis on knowledge that makes his participation in CMO’s anniversary particularly significant.
The organisation itself was founded in 2006 by Muslim professionals committed to addressing misconceptions about Islam through education, writing, publications and public enlightenment. Over the last twenty years, it has championed literacy, youth development and intellectual engagement through initiatives ranging from publications and essay competitions to scholarships and humanitarian programmes.
The theme chosen for the anniversary lecture mirrors those objectives.
By examining the relationship between revelation and the written word, Dr Salah is expected to explore how reading, writing and the pursuit of knowledge have historically shaped Islamic civilisation and continue to influence Muslim societies today.
For an organisation whose history has been closely tied to writing, publishing and youth education, the choice of Dr Muhammad Salah and the theme of the lecture appears particularly symbolic. Both reflect a shared conviction that the pursuit of knowledge remains one of the most powerful tools for personal development, social progress and religious understanding.
