Judging Begins for Quran, Sunnah Contest in Dakar
Participants from 53 African countries compete in major Islamic event

Judging has begun for the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Competition for the memorisation of the Holy Qur’an and the Prophet’s Sunnah in Dakar.
The event is organised by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance and brings together participants from 53 African countries.
On the first day, judges assessed 50 contestants in Qur’an memorisation categories and 12 in the Sunnah sections.
Organisers said the high level of performance reflects strong preparation and strict selection processes in the participating countries.
The competition is considered one of Africa’s leading Islamic academic events, aimed at promoting excellence and preserving Islamic knowledge among young people.
It also seeks to encourage deeper understanding of the Qur’an and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
