Israel began releasing Palestinian prisoners on Monday as part of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, according to the Palestinian Prisoners’ Media Office.

Buses carrying freed detainees left Ofer Prison, located west of Ramallah, and headed toward Beitunia town in the occupied West Bank.

Similar buses departed from Negev Prison in southern Israel en route to the Gaza Strip.

The releases came shortly after Hamas handed over 20 Israeli prisoners alive under the first phase of the ceasefire deal, marking a significant step in the implementation of the agreement.
