IRGC Official Warns US of Severe Consequences Over Iran Tensions

A senior commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has warned that any further escalation by the United States against Iran would lead to serious consequences for Washington.
Major General Yadollah Javani, the IRGC deputy commander for political affairs, said on Monday that the United States may try to show military strength but would ultimately face defeat if tensions increase.
He added that President Donald Trump would not be able to reverse recent developments or restore earlier conditions before the February 28 conflict.
Javani also stated that any vessel wishing to pass through the Strait of Hormuz must do so under conditions set by Iran’s armed forces, warning that ships linked to hostile parties would be dealt with firmly.
He said Iran’s adversaries had failed to achieve their stated goals in the recent conflict, which he described as an unsuccessful military campaign against the country.
According to him, those goals allegedly included targeting Iran’s nuclear and missile capabilities and weakening its regional influence, but none were achieved.
The commander added that control of the Strait of Hormuz remains a key strategic issue, saying previous attempts to pressure Iran over the waterway had failed.
He claimed that even efforts to gain international support for reopening the strait did not succeed, and that current pressure campaigns would also not change the situation.
The remarks come amid ongoing tensions between Iran and the United States following months of military and political confrontation, including strikes and counterstrikes in the region.
A ceasefire was later reached through Pakistan’s mediation, followed by talks in Islamabad, but no agreement was reached due to disagreements over key conditions, including sanctions and military presence.
Iran has since maintained that any return to negotiations depends on the lifting of what it describes as external pressure measures.
