Iran warns Europe it could become a target if aligned with U.S.

Deputy foreign minister cautions European states on military alignment with Washington and Tel Aviv amid escalating regional conflict

By Abdullahi Yusuf

Iran’s deputy foreign minister has warned European nations they will become “legitimate targets” for Iranian retaliation if they align militarily with the United States and Israel in the ongoing conflict.

The warning came as Russia’s President Vladimir Putin expressed condolences to his Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian and received a full briefing on battlefield developments.

U.S. officials, speaking anonymously, said Moscow is also providing Tehran with intelligence on American military positions.

The Kremlin said the war has triggered a significant increase in demand for Russian energy products, one day after Washington granted India a 30-day waiver on US energy restrictions.

Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations, Amir-Saeid Iravani, separately accused Israel and the United States of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity, saying both countries recognise “no red line.”
