Iran Slams US Over Ceasefire Violations

Iran’s Foreign Ministry has condemned what it described as fresh U.S. attacks on Iranian oil tankers and coastal facilities, calling them a clear violation of the ceasefire agreement between both countries.
In a statement released on Friday, the ministry said U.S. forces targeted two Iranian tankers near Jask and the Strait of Hormuz late Thursday into early Friday. It also accused Washington of striking several coastal sites overlooking the strategic waterway.
Tehran said its armed forces responded strongly to the attacks and claimed the United States failed to achieve its objectives.
The ministry accused the Trump administration of showing desperation and confusion, saying Washington is trapped in a crisis of its own making.
Iran also called on the United Nations Security Council and the UN Secretary-General to take action in defense of international peace and security.
It warned that silence or leniency toward what it called unlawful U.S. behavior could have serious consequences.
According to the statement, recent developments show that the American military presence in the Persian Gulf and Sea of Oman has become a source of instability rather than security.
The ministry repeated Iran’s support for good relations with neighboring countries and urged regional states to build a security system based on trust and without outside interference.
Iranian reports also said naval forces later launched cruise missiles and drones at U.S. destroyers near the Strait of Hormuz after attacks on tankers and civilian sites on Qeshm Island.
Hours later, former U.S. President Donald Trump reportedly said the ceasefire remained in place while downplaying the exchange.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei later posted on X that Iran’s restraint should not be mistaken for weakness.
