Hajj 2025: Saudi Arabia to Commence Visa Issuance on February 19
By Abdullahi Yusuf
Preparations for the 2025 Hajj are in full swing as Saudi authorities will begin issuing visas to intending pilgrims on February 19, 2025.
The Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Professor Abdullahi Usman, announced the visa rollout during a meeting with Licensed Tour Operators (LPTOs) in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. The meeting was part of NAHCON’s efforts to engage stakeholders, fine-tune arrangements, and ensure seamless operations for Nigerian pilgrims.
Professor Usman emphasized that the engagement aimed to promote understanding and improve service delivery for private pilgrims. He encouraged operators to prioritize the well-being of pilgrims and remain committed to ensuring a smooth Hajj experience. Observations, questions, and constructive suggestions were welcomed to strengthen collaboration.
A statement by Fatima Sanda reiterated the February 14, 2025, deadline for remittance of Hajj fares into IBAN accounts to meet the February 19 visa issuance date. It also confirmed that LPTOs may affiliate with any of the 10 leading companies within their zones, provided the companies have not exceeded the 2,000-pilgrim capacity.
Additionally, NAHCON reaffirmed its commitment to inclusivity and service excellence, with both the commission and LPTOs pledging to work together to deliver the best for pilgrims.
Earlier, NAHCON signed the 2025 Hajj Memorandum of Understanding with Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, signaling Nigeria’s readiness to adhere to Saudi guidelines for the pilgrimage.
In related developments, Professor Usman announced the approval of four official air carriers to transport Nigerian pilgrims for the 2025 Hajj. Out of 11 applicants, the selected airlines are Air Peace Limited, Fly-Nas, Max Air, and UMZA Aviation Services Limited. This selection underscores NAHCON’s commitment to ensuring efficient and reliable air travel for pilgrims.
