Golden Words of Allah (episode 28)

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. All perfect praise be to Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, the Lord of the Worlds. We testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad, (PBUH), is His slave and Messenger.

The Human Creation in the Womb:

Introduction
The journey of human creation in the womb is a profound testament to the infinite power, wisdom, and mercy of Allah. The Quran eloquently describes the various stages of embryonic development, revealing a process that modern science only came to understand centuries later. Each phase, from the initial creation to the formation of the soul, unfolds according to divine decree, emphasizing the precision of Allah’s design. Reflecting on these miraculous stages inspires awe and gratitude, reminding humanity of their dependence on the Creator. The intricate formation of life in the womb serves as both a sign of Allah’s majesty and a call to recognize the sanctity of life, our purpose, and ultimate return to Him.

1. The Origin of Human Life
The Quran emphasizes that human life begins from a single drop of fluid, reflecting the humble origins of humanity. This initial stage highlights the divine wisdom behind the creation of life.
Quranic Reference: “We created man from a drop of mixed fluid (nutfah amshaj) to test him; and We made him hearing and seeing.” (Surah Al-Insan 76:2)
Explanation: The phrase nutfah amshaj refers to the mingling of male and female reproductive fluids, emphasizing fertilization as the starting point of human creation.

2. The Stages of Embryonic Development
The Quran outlines the successive stages of development in the womb, offering a comprehensive description of human formation.
Quranic Reference: “We created man from an essence of clay. Then We placed him as a drop of fluid (nutfah) in a safe lodging. Then We made the drop into a clinging substance (’alaqah), then We made the clinging substance into a lump (mudghah), and We made the lump into bones, and We clothed the bones with flesh; then We developed him into another creation. So blessed is Allah, the best of creators.” (Surah Al-Mu’minun 23:12-14).
Stages Described:
a .Nutfah (Drop of Fluid): The sperm and egg unite, forming a fertilized cell.
b .Alaqah (Clinging Substance): The embryo attaches to the uterine wall, resembling a leech in appearance.
c .Mudghah (Chewed-like Lump): The embryo begins to form tissues and structures, appearing like a chewed substance.
d .Bones and Flesh: The skeleton develops, followed by muscle and skin covering the bones.
e .Another Creation: The soul is breathed into the fetus, marking spiritual creation.

3. The Soul and Spiritual Aspect
The Quran not only focuses on the physical development of the human being but also highlights the spiritual dimension—the breathing of the soul (Ruh) into the fetus.
Quranic Reference: “Then He proportioned him and breathed into him from His soul and made for you hearing, vision, and hearts; little are you grateful.” (Surah As-Sajdah 32:9)
Hadith Reference: Narrated by Abdullah ibn Mas’ud, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “After forty-two nights, Allah sends an angel to the embryo, shaping it into human form and breathing the soul into it.” (Sahih Muslim, Hadith 2643)

4. The Protective Environment in the Womb
The womb is described as a secure and nurturing environment where the fetus is shielded by layers of protection.
Quranic Reference: “He created you from a single soul. Then He made from it its mate. And He produced for you eight pairs of livestock. He creates you in the wombs of your mothers, creation after creation, in three layers of darkness. That is Allah, your Lord. To Him belongs the dominion. There is no deity except Him, so how are you averted?” (Surah Az-Zumar 39:6).

Explanation: The “three layers of darkness” are interpreted as –
a.The abdominal wall
b.The uterine wall
c.The amniotic sac
These layers provide a protective barrier, ensuring the safety and development of the unborn child.

5. The Determination of Human Destiny
The Quran acknowledges that Allah determines every aspect of the human being, including appearance, abilities, and destiny, while still granting humans free will.
Quranic Reference: “Indeed, We created man from a drop of fluid, placed him in a firm resting place, and measured every stage of development.” (Surah Al-Mursalat 77:20-23)
Hadith Reference: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said “When forty-two nights have passed after the sperm and ovum unite, Allah sends an angel who records the person’s destiny, livelihood, deeds, and whether they will be blessed or wretched.” (Sahih Muslim, Hadith 2644)

6. Reflection on the Miracle of Creation
The Quran invites humanity to reflect on the miraculous nature of life’s formation, urging people to recognize Allah’s greatness.
Quranic Reference: “Does man not consider that We created him from a drop of fluid? Yet he becomes an open adversary!” (Surah Ya-Sin 36:77)
Hadith Reference: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said “Every one of you is created in your mother’s womb for forty days as a drop of fluid, then a clinging substance for the same period, and then a lump of flesh for another forty days. Then the soul is breathed into him.” (Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith 3208)

Conclusion
The creation of a human being in the womb is one of the clearest signs of Allah’s supreme power, knowledge, and wisdom. The Quran’s detailed description of this process, confirmed by modern scientific discoveries, stands as a timeless testimony to divine truth. From a simple drop of fluid to a fully formed human being with body, mind, and soul, every stage reflects Allah’s mercy and creative power.
