First in Jannah (Golden Words of Allah – Episode 52)

“And hasten to forgiveness from your Lord and a Paradise as wide as the heavens and earth, prepared for the righteous.”

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. All perfect praise is due to Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, the Lord of the Worlds. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah, and Muhammad (pbuh), is His slave and final Messenger.

Introduction
Jannah the eternal home of peace, where no grief touches the heart nor harm reaches the soul. But who will be the first to enter this eternal abode? In the vast ocean of creation, Allah has chosen certain souls, honoured by their piety, to lead the way. This question isn’t merely a matter of curiosity, it reminds us of the standard we are meant to emulate, the level of devotion, faith, and sincerity that earns the pleasure of our Lord.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) himself will be the first to knock at the gates of Jannah. He said: “I will come to the gate of Paradise and ask for it to be opened. The gatekeeper will ask, ‘Who are you?’ I will say, ‘Muhammad.’ He will say, ‘I was commanded not to open for anyone before you.’”(Sahih Muslim, 197)

The Prophet (pbuh) also described the first group of believers to follow: “The first group to enter Paradise will be shining like the moon on the night it is full. They will neither spit, nor blow their noses, nor defecate. Their utensils will be of gold, their combs of gold and silver, their incense will be of aloes-wood, and their sweat will be musk…”(Sahih al-Bukhari, 3245; Sahih Muslim, 2834)

Kg Among them will be the poor but steadfast, those who did not have the luxury of worldly comfort, yet carried the weight of sincerity in their hearts.

Qualities of the First to Enter

They will be: Those who perfected their faith with sincerity, those who bore hardship in obedience, not in disobedience, those whose hearts were detached from the world and attached to Allah, the poor among the Muhajirun will enter 40 years before the wealthy. (Tirmidhi, 2353 – Hasan)

The Prophet also said: “A man from among my Ummah will be called on the Day of Judgement, and 99 scrolls of sins will be laid out before him… Yet, he will have a card that says ‘La ilaha illAllah’ and it will outweigh all his sins.” (Tirmidhi; authenticated by al-Albani)

To be among the first is not a matter of lineage or status, but of faith, sincerity, humility, and righteous deeds. Paradise is not earned by deeds alone, but by the mercy of Allah upon those who sincerely strive. Let us aim not just to enter Jannah, but to be of those whom the gates long for, whose names are whispered among the angels, and who walk behind the Prophet, shining in ranks of light.

“Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and rivers, in a seat of honour near a Sovereign, Perfect in Ability.” Surah Al-Qamar (54:54-55)
