The Emir of Zazzau, Ambassador Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, CFR, LLD, has backed a ₦500 million education appeal launched by the Zaria branch of the Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih Society (NASFAT), describing quality education as a critical response to insecurity, ignorance and other social challenges.

The Emir spoke at NASFAT Zaria’s 21st anniversary celebration, held under the theme, “Pen Over Gun: Reclaiming National Security and Development Through Education,” where he called on Muslims, people of other faiths, public institutions and corporate organisations to support initiatives that expand access to quality education.

The anniversary also marked the launch of the ₦500 million NASFAT Zaria Schools Appeal Fund, an initiative aimed at supporting the society’s educational development efforts in the area.

NASFAT President and Chief Host, Alhaji AbdulRauf Ayodeji AbdulWahid, said the Emir’s attendance underscored the importance of traditional leadership in supporting faith-based educational initiatives.

Speaking at the occasion, NASFAT Worldwide President and Chief Host, Alhaji AbdulRauf Ayodeji AbdulWahid, said the Emir’s attendance underscored the importance of traditional leadership in supporting faith-based educational initiatives.

He said NASFAT had continued to promote religious harmony, national unity and inclusive development through its programmes, including efforts to strengthen relationships across ethnic and religious communities.

The Emir, in his remarks, commended NASFAT for what he described as its sustained contribution to spiritual development, human development and educational empowerment.

He stressed the importance of education in addressing some of the challenges confronting society, arguing that investment in knowledge could help reduce insecurity and ignorance while creating better opportunities for future generations.

The anniversary theme placed education at the centre of the discussion on national security and development, presenting investment in learning as part of a broader response to social instability.

The event attracted Islamic scholars, traditional rulers, government officials, business leaders and members of the public, alongside NASFAT members and supporters of the schools appeal.

The Chief Missioner of NASFAT Worldwide, Imam Maroofdeen AbdulAzeez Onike, offered prayers for the Emir and the Zazzau Emirate, as well as for the guest speaker, Prof. Ibrahim Ahmad Al-Maqari, supporters of the appeal fund and NASFAT members across the world.

He prayed for continued guidance, protection and prosperity for the society as it pursues its programmes in spiritual development, education, humanitarian service and peacebuilding.

With the schools appeal now at the centre of its Zaria anniversary activities, NASFAT is seeking wider support for an initiative that places education alongside the broader effort to confront insecurity and strengthen communities.
