Easy Deeds, Eternal Rewards (Golden Words of Allah – Ep 84)

“Allah is Subtle with His servants; He gives provision to whom He wills” (Qur’an 42:19)

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. All perfect praise is due to Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, the Lord of the Worlds. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah, and Muhammad (pbuh), is His slave and final Messenger.

Allah, in His infinite gentleness, does not desire hardship for His servants. “Allah is Subtle with His servants; He gives provision to whom He wills” (Qur’an 42:19). He does not seek to cast His true servants into the Fire; rather, He opens for them doors of mercy in the simplest of actions.

The reduction of the daily prayers from fifty to five, yet retaining the reward of fifty, is itself proof that this Deen is built upon mercy. Ease is embedded in worship. And beyond the pillars are countless opportunities for reward woven into daily life.

A smile. Saying “Amin” after the recitation of Al-Fatihah. Removing harm from the path. Kissing one’s child, for mercy placed in the heart is rewarded. Maintaining family ties. Visiting the sick. Following funeral processions and visiting the graves for reflection. Helping the oppressed. Fulfilling trusts and oaths. Returning greetings. Responding to the one who sneezes. Accepting invitations. Being good to one’s family. Living in peace with neighbours. Even intimacy between husband and wife, done lawfully is charity. Nothing escapes divine record.

“And everything they did is in written records; every small and great thing is inscribed” (Qur’an 54:52-53).

In our time, great rewards are not confined to the battlefield of swords, but to the battlefield of the heart. The Prophet (pbuh) said: “When the Imam says ‘Amin,’ then say ‘Amin,’ for if one’s ‘Amin’ coincides with that of the angels, his previous sins will be forgiven.” Sahih al-Bukhari, Book of Prayer

And he (pbuh) also said: “Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should not harm his neighbour; whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should honour his guest; and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should speak good or remain silent.” Sahih al-Bukhari, Book of Manners.

Backbiting, slander, and abusive speech are not light matters, the Qur’an likens backbiting to eating the flesh of one’s dead brother (Qur’an 49:12). Silence, when disciplined, becomes worship.

Instead of wasting precious hours in idle talk, hold fast to the Glorious Qur’an. For every letter recited carries reward. Beyond that reward, it becomes light in the grave and an intercessor on the Day of Standing.

These are easy deeds yet heavy on the scale. On the Day of Qiyamah, when records are opened and scales are set, even what we thought insignificant will appear. “Whoever volunteers good then indeed Allah is Appreciative and Knowing” (Qur’an 2:158).

Let us therefore add these simple acts to our daily ibadah. For the path to Jannah is not only through grand gestures, but through consistent, sincere, and seemingly small deeds done for Allah alone.
