An Islamic cleric in Osun State has praised the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, describing him as a strong representative of Islamic values in public life.

The commendation came from Sheikh Lukman Tijani Adekunle, Chief Imam of Ajagbemokeferi Central Mosque, Ogo-Oluwa, Osogbo, as political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2026 Osun State governorship election. The cleric described Oyebamiji as a man of faith, conscience, and humility.

Sheikh Adekunle said Oyebamiji’s consistent support for Islam and humanitarian causes earned him respect within the Muslim community. He described the APC candidate as “a pride of Islam,” citing his quiet contributions to mosque construction and his long-standing relationship with Islamic institutions across the state.

According to the cleric, Oyebamiji regularly prays with worshippers without seeking attention, often choosing to remain at the back of the mosque. He described him as a silent philanthropist whose sincerity, piety, and faithfulness distinguish him from many public figures.

Sheikh Adekunle stressed that Islam does not prohibit participation in politics, but rather demands leadership rooted in honesty, compassion, and service to the people. He expressed confidence that Oyebamiji possesses the moral discipline required to govern with integrity if elected.

The cleric also called on the APC candidate to prioritise key sectors such as education, health, agriculture, security, and infrastructure, noting that these areas require urgent attention to improve the welfare of the masses, especially the underprivileged.

In his response, Oyebamiji thanked Almighty Allah for guidance and protection and reaffirmed his commitment to serving the people of Osun State with fairness and compassion. He urged residents to support his ambition, pledging to draw inspiration from the leadership values of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in governing the state.
