Ansarullah Ahmadiyya tasks leaders on peace at 49th Ijtema
4,151 attend Akure convention; group warns against slide to World War III, pushes good governance, interfaith harmony; free medical outreach treats 400, gives 100 eyeglasses

Majlis Ansarullah Ahmadiyya Nigeria (MAAN), the elderly men’s wing of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, has urged global and national leaders to prioritise justice, dialogue and fairness to stave off mounting conflicts, warning that humanity must “listen to the voice from the wilderness” to avert a Third World War.
The charge came at the end of the group’s 49th National Annual Ijtema (Convention) held from Friday, August 22 to Sunday, August 24, 2025, at St. Peter’s Unity Secondary School, Oyemekun Road, Akure, Ondo State, with the theme: “Listening to the Voice from the Wilderness to Avert Third World War.”
According to a communiqué issued at the close of proceedings, 4,151 participants drawn from across Nigeria, among them top government officials, traditional rulers, religious leaders, professionals and community members took part in three days of deliberations, lectures, competitions and prayers.
Delegates reaffirmed that peace is the foundation of human progress, urging world leaders to embrace dialogue above narrow national interests. They echoed the guidance of Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad (aba), Khalifatul Masih V, on heeding divine counsel and pursuing global unity.
Beyond geopolitics, the convention also charged Nigerians to quell conflicts within homes and communities, noting that avoiding “wars” with spouses, children, neighbours and the nation at large is essential to social cohesion.
On the domestic front, MAAN called on leaders at all levels to deepen justice, equity and good governance as the bedrock of national peace. It further encouraged interfaith harmony and peaceful coexistence among adherents of all religions to strengthen Nigeria’s unity.
The Ijtema featured a two-day free medical outreach hosted at the Palace of the Iralepo of Isinkan, Akure, offering consultations, laboratory tests and the distribution of 100 free eyeglasses. Over 400 residents benefitted from the services, the communiqué noted.
MAAN expressed gratitude to the people and Government of Ondo State, security agencies and religious/traditional institutions for their support. Special mention went to Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa; the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi; and the Iralepo of Isinkan, Oba Oluwagbemiga Ojo Ajimokunola Olofin-Adimula (Arulewolasi III), among other dignitaries who honoured the event.
