Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Concludes 48th Annual Ijtema

The Elders Group of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Nigeria, Majlis Ansarullah, concluded its 48th annual Islamic conference (Ijtema) at the indoor sports hall of the Mashood Abiola National Stadium.
The conference, themed *“Making Living Worthwhile for All: Islamic Solutions to Economic and Security Challenges,”* featured lectures from notable scholars, including Professor Saheed Timehin of Lagos State University (LASU).
Professor Timehin addressed Nigeria’s economic and security challenges, identifying moral and attitudinal decline as key issues. He pointed out that cultural decay, marked by selfishness and opportunism, undermines progress and justice. He stressed that social injustice is a major threat to stability and security and called for comprehensive legal, social, and cultural reforms to address corruption and other challenges.
Major General F. Y. Bashir, representing the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), praised the conference for highlighting the Muslim Ummah’s responsibilities toward families, communities, and the nation.
He emphasized the need for a pure human soul to prevent insecurity and stressed the importance of Islamic organizations in addressing security issues. He urged Nigerians to actively participate in reporting and combating security threats.
In his remarks, the Amir of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at of Nigeria, Alhaji Abdulazeez Folarunso Alatoye, outlined the way forward. He stressed the importance of humility, prayer, and seeking divine forgiveness, arguing that Nigeria’s progress depends on integrating faith with efforts toward security and economic development.
Alatoye emphasized that true progress requires collective reliance on God, which will reduce corruption and foster national growth. He called for a unified approach aligned with divine principles to ensure the nation’s success.
The conference also featured a Quran competition, speech contests, health talks, and sports activities. Additionally, the Elders Group organized two days of free medical services for people with disabilities and residents of Karonmajiji village, visited an orphanage, and paid courtesy visits to traditional rulers and government officials.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Minister of Health, Dr. Muhammad Ali Pate, represented by Professor Sa’ad Ahmed, Chief Medical Director of Federal Medical Centre, Abuja.
In a recent visit to the Ona of Abaji, Alh. (Dr.) Adamu Baba Yunusa, and other traditional rulers, the Majlis Ansarullah Ahmadiyya Nigeria received high praise for their peace and humanitarian efforts. Alh. Dauda Abiola Raji, the National President of the organization, highlighted the convention’s community-focused activities and presented literature on Islam’s peace principles.
The Ona commended the organization’s global peace initiatives and humanitarian projects, expressing support for their ongoing mission and urging them to continue fostering goodwill and societal advancement.
The closing events were attended by representatives from various sectors, including Governor Abdullahi A. Sule, the Executive Governor of Nassarawa State, the Minister for States Environment, Minister of Budgets and planning, the FRSC, the Correctional Centres, the Airport deputy, Immigration commander, the representatives of Alh. (Dr.) Adamu Baba Yunusa, the Ona of Abaji and Alhaji Auwal Musa Ijakoro the Emir of Bwari, also Imam Fuad Adeyemi, Chief Imam of Al-Habbibiyyat Mosque Abuja and other notable figures.
