Ahmadiyya Jama’at cares for Karonmajigi

As part of the activities marking the 48th annual National IJTEMA of the Elder group, Majlis Ansarullah of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat of Nigeria, a two-day free medical checkup and treatment for people with disabilities and the entire community of Karonmajiji village, off airport road, Abuja, has been concluded in, the federal capital territory of Nigeria.

Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat of Nigeria, Medical Outreach, is one of the cardinal programmes of the organization that centres on humanity first and medical outreaches in rural communities in Nigeria.

The group sponsored the medical checkups, treatments, and distribution of drugs using the government clinic in the heart of the Karonmajiji community.

Karonmajiji village is a densely populated rural area off the airport road. Its inhabitants are mainly lowly-paid Nigerians, Artisans of various human endeavours, the vulnerable, people with disabilities, farmers, and petty traders.  Going by the demography of the village decision, having such medical outreach by the Jama’at is a thought-out activity, which further confirms her sense of humanity and practical dawah methodology.

PEACE magazine was on the ground and had first-hand evidence of the programme’s impact. The PEACE team interviewed some of the beneficiaries, who came from all the nooks and crannies of the community for the treatment. They were all grateful to the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at of Nigeria for the gestures. Many of the patients we spoke to were too poor to access the treatments.

The two-day free medical services covered fasting blood sugar tests for diabetes, measuring for high – Blood Pressure,  tests for malaria parasites,  eye services, general medical consultation, treatments, referral, and health talk. Ahmadiyya provided the professionals, and the patients were attended to by certified medical Doctors, pharmacists and nurses.

The Abuja Municipality Area Council AMAC Primary Health Centre in Karonmajiji, the venue of the medical clinical exercise, was a beehive of activities for the two days.

The medical outreach ceremony was declared open by the representative of the honourable Minister of Health, Dr. Muhammad Ali Pate, Professor Saad Ahmed, who is the Chief Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre Abuja. His Royal Highness, Alh. Yunusa Bako, Abdullahi, and the Hakimi of the community were also present, along with other community leaders across the religions. Barrister  Sirajuddin Abdus Salam Kofo Alada, the Naib Amir (Special Duties), chaired the opening ceremony, and Sadr Sahib MAAN, Alhaji Dauda Abiola Raji, welcomed the guests and participants to the programme.

Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at prides itself on being a foremost Islamic organization that propagates Islamic teachings and fosters peaceful coexistence in the country. Her mode of dawah and successes transcended many generations and were characterized by sound Islamic knowledge, love, and sacrifice for humanity.

Her organizational brilliance in promoting Islam in harmony within the nation’s health and education systems, as well as her dedication to these areas, has continued to make her a valuable resource for Islamic propagation in Nigeria.
