Afghanistan Seeks Global Connections Through Islamic Finance and Halal Trade

Afghanistan is aiming to strengthen its global economic and trade ties by leveraging Islamic finance and halal trade, the country’s minister of industry and commerce, says the Afghan minister of industry and commerce Nooruddin Azizi. Speaking at the World Halal Summit in Istanbul, Azizi outlined Afghanistan’s vision to bolster its agricultural sector, develop infrastructure, support domestic industries, ensure financial stability, and attract both domestic and foreign investment.

Azizi described the four-day summit, hosted in Istanbul with Anadolu Agency as its global communication partner, as one of the largest trade events in the Islamic world and a key platform to promote global halal trade. He emphasized that the halal industry benefits not just the Islamic world or Muslims but humanity as a whole.

“As an Islamic country, Afghanistan is deeply committed to the halal industry and trade,” Azizi said. He highlighted Afghanistan’s active participation in the summit, which includes representatives from the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and the private sector. He expressed confidence that the global community will increasingly recognize the advantages of halal trade over time.

Azizi also reassured potential investors that Afghanistan offers a secure environment for both local and international investments. He underscored the longstanding economic, cultural, and social ties between Afghanistan and Türkiye, describing the two nations as “brotherly countries.”

“Afghanistan seeks to introduce its halal products and services to global markets, while attracting foreign investment, particularly from Türkiye, a friendly and supportive partner,” Azizi stated.
