2,214 Contestants Begin Sultan Qaboos Holy Qur’an Competition
Annual contest promotes Qur’anic memorisation and encourages excellence among participants across Oman

The preliminary stage of the 34th Sultan Qaboos Holy Qur’an Competition has commenced with the participation of 2,214 contestants from different parts of Oman.
The annual competition is organised by the Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science (SQHCCS) at the Diwan of Royal Court to encourage Qur’anic memorisation, strengthen Islamic values and inspire participants to excel in learning the Holy Qur’an.
The competition is divided into seven categories, ranging from memorisation of the entire Holy Qur’an to two consecutive parts (Juz), with age requirements for some categories.
As part of the exercise, the judging committee will visit 28 centres across the governorates of Oman. Two additional centres have been introduced this year in the wilayats of Al Jabal Al Akhdhar and Dima W’attayeen.
Registration for the 34th edition of the competition was conducted between April 21 and July 7, 2026.
