Two Aligarh Muslim University employees shot at inside campus, two arrested in India

Two Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) employees were shot on campus by assailants on a motorcycle on Wednesday, according to police.
The incident which occurred at the University Campus of Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, India, involved two assailants who intercepted the victims on a motorcycle while they were riding a two-wheeler on the university grounds, leaving them seriously injured.
Mohammad Nadeem and Kaleem, who are brothers, have been hospitalised.
Police arrested the two suspects after a university security patrol chased them down following the shooting. According to eyewitnesses, four to five rounds of firing took place inside the campus.
The motive for the attack is believed to be an old grudge, based on initial investigations.
According to Nadeem’s wife, the attackers belonged to a criminal gang and had misbehaved with their 13-year-old daughter, prompting the family to file a POSCO case against them.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Amrit Jain said that the attackers have been arrested and important evidence is being collected on-site by officials.
